18/11/2019

Last Friday, 15 November, we travelled to Barcelona by the hand of KPMGThe Barcelona-based organisation held a session on Brexitin collaboration with the British Chamber in Spain and related companies including GIL STAUFFER.

The conference was held under the title "Brexit and mobility of people How might it affect the movement of workers between the UK and the EU?"The analysis of this question showed the different scenarios that can occur after the elections of United Kingdom on 12 December next, thus the impacts that may be produced on the Spanish companiesespecially in the field of mobility of persons and contingency plans, as a possible exit without agreement at the end of January or December 2020 cannot yet be ruled out.

Thus, Tom HemmingsMinister Counsellor of the British Embassy in Spainmade a very valuable presentation on this burning issue, and the argument was supported by  Raquel Amomanaging director of GIL STAUFFER, Marta VadilloThe Sub-Directorate General for Consular Protection and Assistance and the director general of Cognita, Germá RigauEach of the participants gave an overview from the point of view of his or her professional field.

The debate was moderated by Antonio Hernández responsible partner KPMG's internationalisation and Brexit in Spain and finally the day concluded with the intervention of Sergio González-Antapartner in charge of Global Mobility Services at KPMG BarcelonaThe EU's social security, taxation and migration issues were discussed.

We would like to thank KPMG their invitation to participate in these interesting and topical meetings.
